In a terminal patient the discomfort
associated with cessation of a pleasurable though destructive habit
may outweigh any sense of emancipation imparted by the act of
“conquering” his addiction.
Observing a sort of
guilty sadness upon destroying the molds that crop up in an unkempt
kitchen:
These living creatures,
no matter how inconsequential, would not now be dying but for my bad
behavior in allowing them to come into being in my kitchen.

“search” for meaning is a silly waste of time – meaning is
somethnig that is created by our desire to have an impact on our
world, no matter what form that impact takes.
